THE FIRST SPICED CUBAN RUM

Black Tears is more than rum – it’s passion distilled. A tribute to Cuba that moves to its own rhythm, where every moment is felt deeply and nothing is held back. Bittersweet, bold, and effortlessly cool. This is the modern Cuba.

Crafted from the finest molasses in Ciego de Avila in the heart of Cuba, Black Tears takes the highest quality Cuban rum and adds the warmth of hand-selected coffee, rich cocoa, and the gentle heat of ubiquitous local sweet chili pepper ají dulce – flavours inseparable from our island’s history. We are the only spiced rum to bear the Vigía seal – Cuba's ultimate mark of authenticity.

The Voices of Cuba

YOSVEL
-RAPPER-
Yosvel started rapping at just seven years old, long before he could read or write. His dad penned the lyrics, and his mum taught him how to rap them – line by line. Since then, he’s become one of the key voices in Havana’s alternative rap scene. Mentored early on by Cuban musical icon X Alfonso, Yosvel grew up on stage and on screen, rapping in front of crowds and appearing in some of the most iconic videos in Cuban music. He’s part of the Black Tears community because he's always pushing things forward – experimenting with new sounds, collaborating across genres, and building a future for Cuban music that’s as unexpected as it is exciting.
AFRIKA
-SINGER / SONGWRITER-
Afro-Cuban soul, hip hop, and funk run through everything Afrika does. Her music tells personal stories of identity, strength, and emotion – drawing from her roots, her faith, and her city. Afrika is more than a voice – she’s part of the Black Tears community, bringing rhythm, presence, and pride to every room she steps into.
AMY
-BARTENDER-
Amy is a bartender who’s all about connection. She doesn’t just make drinks – she creates moments. From classics to bold new twists, Amy blends tradition with flair. She’s part of the Black Tears community because she brings people together – with conversation, laughter, and the perfect Spiced Cuba Libre.
RANDOL
-ARTIST / DJ-
From graffiti walls to DJ sets and Cuban hip-hop, Randol is a creative force. Raised in Havana, he co-founded Tucán Sessions and moves easily between street art and music. Randol’s work is rooted in culture and community. He’s part of the Black Tears family – celebrating Cuban expression in every form.
AMA
-FASHION DESIGNERS-
AMA is a handmade fashion label created by Ana and Maria during lockdown in Havana. Their vibrant crochet pieces reflect joy, resilience, and the spirit of Cuba. Every stitch is crafted by an all-women team. AMA is more than a brand – it’s part of our Black Tears community, representing love, colour, and creativity.
FELIX
-Opera / Musical Theatre Performer-
Felix doesn’t blend in – he was never meant to. He’s one of Havana’s biggest personalities, known for his operatic voice, theatrical presence, and style that channels legends like Beny Moré and Bola de Nieve. While most don’t picture opera when they think of young Cuban artists, Felix doesn’t follow typical paths. His work is a celebration of Cuba’s musical legacy – but with an edge, something fresh and uniquely his. He’s part of the Black Tears community because, like the rum itself, Felix is all about Cubanía: knowing who you are, loving it, and showing it to the world – without apology.

THE JOURNEY OF
CUBAN RUM MAKING

PROCESS
A Taste of Cuba
Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum is distilled from premium molasses, sourced from distilleries in the heart of Cuba. This rich foundation reflects the region’s unique climate, sugar growing history and Cuban craftsmanship.
PROCESS
Well-selected sugar cane
Skilled local experts carefully select the finest sugar cane, ensuring optimal quality. Using traditional techniques, they hand-harvest each stalk at peak maturity, preserving its natural sweetness and maximizing yield.
PROCESS
Aguardiente - The Essence of Cuban Rum
The molasses is column-distilled, transforming into a smooth aguardiente. It is then aged in white oak barrels, allowing the flavours to develop depth, richness, and refined character.
PROCESS
Aged to Perfection
Our exceptional rum is then recasked to continue the ageing process, helping to develop deeper flavors. These rum bases are then blended with precision to achieve the perfect balance, resulting in the bold and rich signature Black Tears taste.
PROCESS
The Master’s Perfect Blend
Our Master Blender, skillfully blends the expertly aged aguardiente with fine alcohol to craft a uniquely Cuban rum base. This meticulous process ensures a smooth, well-balanced foundation, rich in depth and character, staying true to Cuba’s renowned rum-making tradition.
PROCESS
First Spiced Cuban Rum
Black Tears Dry Spiced was the first Cuban rum to be granted permission to add spices in 2012, allowing Our Master Blender to create a truly unique blend of authentically Cuban flavours to accompany our high-quality rum: coffee, cocoa, and aji dulce sweet chili pepper. All of these flavours express the soul of our island that we are happy to share with the world.
PROCESS
The Vigia Seal of Excellence
Since the Cuban Revolution, the Vigía Seal has been used as a mark of exceptional quality rum. Our range of rums all carry this seal, continuing the traditions of excellent Cuban rum in the modern era.
